I significantly started to see improvement after the first week. That first week was really hard, it got worse before it started to get better. I was ready to quit but was advised by a pharmacist to persevere as it is one of the best tolerated solutions. I was taking it after dinner and would wake up approx. 3AM, unable to go back to sleep, so I now take it in the morning. It does not make me feel drowsy or tired that way. I am quite happy with the results so far. If you can get past the first couple of weeks of having no sex drive and then the 6 weeks of diarrhoea, then it is just like a dream come true. This Sertraline medication will not make you happier but it will definitely stop you from feeling down. I gained approx. 25 pounds and it wiped out my libido. I felt fat and flat and it nearly helps me destroyed my marriage due to the lack of sexual interest. Also, it helped me having some uncontrollable sweating. I have been on Sertraline for approx. 10 years and recently I have also bumped up my dosage from 50 to 100 mg recently. My only complaint with that sertraline is no libido. I thought weight gain was also a side effect but at my age which I started at 42 now at 52 I think I just needed to change some eating habits as metabolism slows as we age. Hence, I am not convinced it was sertraline that was causing weight gain.
